dreambikes: supporting Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity

In case you’ve missed it on our site, we’re giving you the chance to bid on the mountain bike of your dreams for the next 5 weeks, as part of the dreambikes initiative.  Dreambikes was created by crankbrothers to support Wheels4Life, a charity that distributes bikes to deserving people in developing countries. With Performance Bicycle’s help, crankbrothers will auction off 10 one-of-a-kind, dream mountain bikes in five online auctions between November 15 and December 19, with all proceeds going to Wheels4Life.

With a name like dreambikes, you know that these aren’t your average mountain bike! Each bike in the dreambikes auction is kitted to the nines with: a frame by Ibis, Titus, Tomac or Focus; Crankbrothers handlebar, stem, seatpost, pedals and wheels; RockShox fork; SRAM drivetrain; Avid brakes; Truvativ cranks; high-performance saddle from fi’zik; and Continental tires.

And the proceeds from the dreambikes auction don’t go to a charity run by your average mountain biker, either!  Wheels4Life is run by mountain biking legend Hans “No Way” Rey.  Hans is considered one of the world’s leaders in extreme mountain biking. He is a former trials riding world champion, a showman, a stuntman, an adventure mountain biker, and all around legend in the mountain biking world:

Hans has traveled the world extensively; riding his GT mountain bikes, over and through areas previously considered unrideable.  Here’s a clip from one of his latest expeditions, a trip to Scotland with downhill world champ Steve Peat and trials rider extraordinaire Danny MacAskill:

But Hans is as passionate about his charity as he is about his riding. Here’s Hans describing how Wheels4Life impacts the lives of those his charity reaches out to.

Still not convinced that a single bicycle can make a big difference in peoples lives? Check out this video clip:

From a remote village in Africa, to the dusty streets of El Rosario, Mexico, Hans and Wheels4Life are truly changing lives:

Call us softies, but we can’t help but get choked up whenever we view this clip showing how the gift of a bike changed the lives of a family in Tanzania:

Don’t miss this chance to support a great cause and make the bike of your dreams a reality.

Bid on a bike. Change a life.
