Holiday Food Drive

Starting today, all of our stores nationwide will accept canned goods and non-perishable food items to help stock local food banks.  We are once again working with local food banks across the country to provide much-needed food to struggling individuals and families this holiday season.

Between December 3 and December 17, all 94 Performance stores will serve as receiving centers for food donations, which will be distributed by local food banks.  Our stores will accept a variety of non-perishable food items, including any kind of canned food or pasta, and dry foods such as cereal and rice that are sealed and packaged.

Last holiday season we collected nearly three tons of food, and we hope to surpass that goal this year!  Our goal is to collect as much food as we possibly can.  As a thank you to those who are able to help, if you donate three or more non-perishable food items you will receive 10% off your entire in-store purchase with your donation.

Thanks in advance to all of you who are able to donate to our food drive during this busy holiday season.  Together we can really make a difference for those in need.

dreambikes auction #3: Focus Project 2.0 & Ibis Mojo

Another week, another dreambikes auction, and another chance to bid on a pair of amazing mountain bikes from the team at crankbrothers! So far, we have raised an amazing $15,402… and that’s just from the first 4 bikes!

The best part about the dreambikes auction is that while you are bidding on the mountain bike of your dreams, you will also be supporting Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity.  All of the proceeds from the dreambikes auction go straight to Wheels4Life, a non-profit organization that provides bikes for people in developing countries, working directly with communities and individuals who desperately need bikes to provide transportation to get to school, to work, or to provide health care to patients in remote locations.

Hans Rey and his wife, Carmen, are both humbled by the success of the dreambikes program, and Carmen would like to personally thank the auction winners: “Thanks to the generosity of our four auction winners, Wheels4Life is able to get 100 children to school in Uganda, thus giving them an education and a chance of a much better life and 60 healthcare workers out into the field saving lives. That is a pretty amazing achievement. Together we are creating a difference through the gift of a bicycle and we could not do it without incredible people like Christiano Samaro, Ryan Black, Eric Vensel and Jon Martens. On behalf of those children, the nurses and Wheels4Life, we thank you.”

To create the dreambikes, Crankbrothers partnered with premiere frame builders Ibis, Titus, Focus and Tomac, and component and accessories makers SRAMRock ShoxAvidFizik and Continental Tires to create a stable of impeccably equipped, one-of-a-kind dream bikes that were displayed at cycling events across the western U.S. and Europe.

Up for bid in this third dreambikes auction is a super-fun size medium Focus Project 2.0 trail bike:

All mountain. All the time. One ride on the Focus Project 2.0 and your agenda will be set in stone. And roots. And whatever else you point this extravagantly spec’d trail-marauder at. The 150mm-travel alloy frame features the patented Knucklebox 3D-forged rocker for ultra-high stiffness and torsional rigidity that will rocket you up to speed fast and efficiently — and supply the impact-inhaling action you need to keep on rolling long after the trail turns treacherous. This one-of-a kind dreambikes Project 2.0 is spec’d to the nines with crankbrothers iodine wheels and contact bits in orange ano, SRAM X0/X9 drivetrain, a color-coordinated fizik Gobi saddle and Continental tires. A winning bid will make this fearless full-squisher all yours.

Also up for bid is this ridiculously good-looking black-and-gold size medium Ibis Mojo:

Super sexy. Super solid. Super smooth. The Ibis Mojo Carbon is nothing short of superlative. With breakout design and engineering, the Mojo’s technologically advanced carbon frame and swingarm dole out plush and flickable efficiency by the truckload, and unload tons of confidence-inspiring control for taking it to the limits over technical terrain. Outfitted stem to stern with color-matched crankbrothers Cobalt and SRAM X0/X9 components, this one-of-a-kind, dreambikes edition Ibis Mojo Carbon is worth its weight in gold—even more, considering that this elegantly appointed, performance-gilded 5.5” travel dual-susser weighs in south of 26 pounds.

Be sure to check out the rest of the dreambikes, and the upcoming auction schedule, on our website right now.  You’ll definitely want at least one of these bikes!

So what are you waiting for… don’t miss your chance to bid on a bike & change a life!

dreambikes Auction #2: Titus FTM Carbon

The second dreambikes auction is in full swing, and you’ll definitely want to check out the second set of one-of-a-kind mountain bikes put together by the team at crankbrothers!  This is your chance to bid on and win the mountain bike of your dreams while knowing that all of the auction proceeds will provide funding for Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity.  Wheels4Life is a non-profit organization that provides bikes for people in developing countries, working directly with communities around the globe by donating bikes to deserving individuals who desperately need them to get to school, to work, or to provide health care to patients.

To create the dreambikes, Crankbrothers partnered with premiere frame builders Ibis, Titus, Focus and Tomac, and component and accessories makers SRAMRock ShoxAvidFizik and Continental Tires to create a stable of impeccably equipped, one-of-a-kind dream bikes that were displayed at cycling events across the western U.S. and Europe.

Up for bid in this second dreambikes auction are a size XL Tomac Carbide XC and this sharp-looking blue-and-white size large Titus FTM Carbon:

If full-tilt is how you roll, the Titus FTM (Full-Tilt Moto) deserves a closer look. It’s a lightweight, hill-sprinting, singletrack-ripping trail rig with the chops to excel on the XC or endurance race circuit. And even if competition isn’t in your blood, you can take satisfaction in knowing the FTM’s crankbrothers Cobalt- and SRAM X0/X9-infused DNA makes the dreambikes edition FTM Carbon look like a full-tilt winner even when it’s standing still.

Be sure to check out the rest of the dreambikes, and the upcoming auction schedule, on our website right now.  You’ll definitely want at least one of these bikes!

So what are you waiting for… don’t miss your chance to bid on a bike & change a life!

dreambikes Auction #2: Tomac Carbide XC

Our first dreambikes auction is over, but that only means that it’s time to start bidding on the second set of one-of-a-kind mountain bikes put together by the team at crankbrothers!  You could win the mountain bike of your dreams and, at the same time, provide needed funds for Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity.  All of the dreambikes auction  proceeds go straight to Wheels4Life, which is making a difference in communities around the globe by donating bikes to deserving individuals who desperately need a bike to access health care or to get to work or school.

In our first auction, over $7,000 was raised to support the efforts of Wheels4Life! This is money that goes directly into buying and delivering bikes to those who need them, as administrative costs and overhead are kept as low as possible at Wheels4Life (Hans Rey even pays for all of his charity-related travel expenses out of his own pocket). Keeping the costs down to a minimum allows Wheels4Life to buy and distribute even more bikes and to change more lives in return.

To create the dreambikes, Crankbrothers partnered with premiere frame builders Ibis, Titus, Focus and Tomac, and component and accessories makers SRAMRock ShoxAvidFizik and Continental Tires to create a stable of impeccably equipped, one-of-a-kind dream bikes that were displayed at cycling events across the western U.S. and Europe.

Up for bid in this second dreambikes auction are a size large Titus FTM Carbon and this stealthy size XL Tomac Carbide XC:

The legendary Johhny T and the gang at Tomac Mountain Bikes certainly know a thing or two about designing high-performance XC rigs. Take the Tomac Carbide XC, for example. This dual-sprung racer is super stiff, exceptionally lightweight and remarkably plush for a bike that handles as intuitively and responsively as any hardtail. And if that’s not enough to peg your “gotta have” needle into the red zone, permit us to point out that the lithe and-sexy naked carbon frame of the dreambikes edition Carbide XC is complemented by a tasty mix of crankbrothers and SRAM components that will not only fuel your growing bike lust, but fully legitimize it.

Be sure to check out the rest of the dreambikes, and the upcoming auction schedule, on our website right now.  You’ll definitely want at least one of these bikes!

So what are you waiting for… don’t miss your chance to bid on a bike & change a life!

dreambikes Auction #1: Titus X Carbon

Time is running out on our first dreambikes auction, so it’s definitely time to get in your bid on one of the drool-worthy mountain bikes put together by the team at crankbrothers!  Here’s how it works: you bid on the bike of your dreams, and all of the proceeds go straight to Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity, which is making a difference in communities around the globe, one bike at a time. Pretty simple, right?

To create the dreambikes, Crankbrothers partnered with premiere frame builders Ibis, Titus, Focus and Tomac, and component and accessories makers SRAM, Rock Shox, Avid, Fizik and Continental Tires to create a stable of impeccably equipped, one-of-a-kind dream bikes that were displayed at cycling events across the western U.S. and Europe.

Now, with the help of Performance Bicycle, crankbrothers will auction off the dreambikes and donate all of the proceeds to Wheels4Life, to help them improve the lives of hundreds of deserving individuals who desperately need a bike for purposes such as accessing health care or for getting to work or school.

The first auction ends Sunday, November 21 at 8:00PM eastern time, and includes a size medium Ibis Mojo SL and this great-looking size small Titus X Carbon:

If you’ve had your eye out for a XC race bike that can accelerate like a hardtail, climb like an over-caffeinated Sherpa and coddle your carcass with plush efficiency, your quest is over, because X marks the spot. With its striking X-shaped frame and modified four-bar suspension design, the Titus X Carbon is stiff, efficient and an all-out screamer when you apply push to the pedals. Decked out in gold accents, courtesy of a bevy of high-zoot crankbrothers Cobalt and SRAM X0/X9 components, the dreambikes edition X Carbon is an eye-catching, lightweight racer that delivers truly heavyweight performance.

If this bike isn’t right for you, check out the rest of the dreambikes on our website right now.  You’ll definitely want at least one of these bikes!

So what are you waiting for… don’t miss your chance to bid on a bike & change a life!

dreambikes Auction #1: Ibis Mojo SL

The bidding has already begun on our first dreambikes auction, but you’ve still got time to get your bid in on a pair of sweet mountain bikes that have been fully kitted out by the folks at crankbrothers!  You get the chance to pick up a hot new ride and all of the proceeds go straight to a fantastic charity that’s making a difference in communities around the globe.

Crankbrothers partnered with premiere frame builders Ibis, Titus, Focus and Tomac, and component and accessories makers SRAM, Rock Shox, Avid, Fizik and Continental Tires to create a stable of impeccably equipped, one-of-a-kind dream bikes that were displayed at cycling events across the western U.S. and Europe.

Now, with the help of Performance Bicycle, crankbrothers will auction off the dreambikes and donate all of the proceeds to Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity. With the goal of raising as much as $50,000, the dreambikes auction will help Wheels4Life improve the lives of hundreds of additional individuals who desperately need a bike for purposes such as accessing health care or for getting to work or school.

The first auction ends Sunday, November 21 at 8:00PM eastern time, and includes this size medium Ibis Mojo SL:

Everything you love about the Mojo Carbon—only less. Ibis pulled out their gram eraser on this one, making the Mojo SL even lighter than its legendary predecessor. Titanium fasteners, more carbon and an enhanced layup yield a super lightweight iteration that retains the strength, stiffness, pedaling efficiency and (dare we say it?) head-turning sex appeal that’s made the Mojo an all-mountain icon. It even comes with a stiffness-enhancing Lopes-Link pre-installed—sweeeeet. With color-matched cockpit outfitted by crankbrothers and Fizik, XO/X9 components by SRAM, and tires by Continental, the Mojo SL is a white-hot trail comet with the performance to match.

If you’re planning ahead, you can check out the rest of the dreambikes on our website right now.  But be warned, you will want at least one of these bikes!

Don’t miss your chance to bid on this bike & change a life!

dreambikes: supporting Hans Rey’s Wheels4Life charity

In case you’ve missed it on our site, we’re giving you the chance to bid on the mountain bike of your dreams for the next 5 weeks, as part of the dreambikes initiative.  Dreambikes was created by crankbrothers to support Wheels4Life, a charity that distributes bikes to deserving people in developing countries. With Performance Bicycle’s help, crankbrothers will auction off 10 one-of-a-kind, dream mountain bikes in five online auctions between November 15 and December 19, with all proceeds going to Wheels4Life.

With a name like dreambikes, you know that these aren’t your average mountain bike! Each bike in the dreambikes auction is kitted to the nines with: a frame by Ibis, Titus, Tomac or Focus; Crankbrothers handlebar, stem, seatpost, pedals and wheels; RockShox fork; SRAM drivetrain; Avid brakes; Truvativ cranks; high-performance saddle from fi’zik; and Continental tires.

And the proceeds from the dreambikes auction don’t go to a charity run by your average mountain biker, either!  Wheels4Life is run by mountain biking legend Hans “No Way” Rey.  Hans is considered one of the world’s leaders in extreme mountain biking. He is a former trials riding world champion, a showman, a stuntman, an adventure mountain biker, and all around legend in the mountain biking world:

Hans has traveled the world extensively; riding his GT mountain bikes, over and through areas previously considered unrideable.  Here’s a clip from one of his latest expeditions, a trip to Scotland with downhill world champ Steve Peat and trials rider extraordinaire Danny MacAskill:

But Hans is as passionate about his charity as he is about his riding. Here’s Hans describing how Wheels4Life impacts the lives of those his charity reaches out to.

Still not convinced that a single bicycle can make a big difference in peoples lives? Check out this video clip:

From a remote village in Africa, to the dusty streets of El Rosario, Mexico, Hans and Wheels4Life are truly changing lives:

Call us softies, but we can’t help but get choked up whenever we view this clip showing how the gift of a bike changed the lives of a family in Tanzania:

Don’t miss this chance to support a great cause and make the bike of your dreams a reality.

Bid on a bike. Change a life.

Movember

Our Biketober celebration may have drawn to a close (although we’ve still got amazing bike deals on our site), but that can only mean that Movember is upon us!  And we mean that quite literally!  So what’s Movember, you ask?  It started off as joke by a group of Australian friends who all agreed to start the month of November clean-shaven and then see who could grow the best moustache in a month.  But it has grown (can’t avoid these puns, sorry) since then to be a worldwide movement to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, with a focus on prostate cancer awareness and research (the number one cancer affecting men).

Here at Performance HQ we’ve formed our own Movember team, a group of guys channeling their inner Tom Selleck to help raise awareness of men’s health and just generally look dapper in the process.  Here they are at the start of the month, clean-shaven:

And lest you think otherwise, we can’t forget that we as cyclists have a long tradition of mustachioed glory to live up to, from the early days of the penny farthing:

To mountain bike pioneer Gary Fisher’s fantastic facial hair:

And multiple-time American time trial champ Dave Zabriskie:

So we hope you’ll join us in giving Movember a try–you might end up with a new look, and hopefully spark a conversation about men’s health and prostate cancer in the process.
