Bike Scoop: Fuji Rakan 3.5 29er Full Suspension Mountain Bike

The new Fuji Rakan 3.5 29er Full Suspension Mountain Bike – 2017 is built around the revolutionary MLink suspension platform, a four bar linkage system that uses a mid-length linkage in the rear triangle. This combines the suspension tuning previously possible only on short link systems with the geometry advantages of long link systems. MLink’s longer links rotate slower than short link systems, creating less stress on pivot bearings and a stiffer rear swing arm while still taking advantage of shorter rear chainstay geometry. All of that super slick tech jargon adds up to give you the bike that changes the face of versatility on the mountain and blazes you toward trail nirvana. The Rakan 3.5 29er will have you climbing with precision and attacking your descents whether you’re breaking away from the pack or carving up singletrack.

Fuji uses their A6-SL alloy frame with the Rakan. A tapered head tube, Boost 148 x 12 rear hub spacing, an oversized hydroformed downtube and press fit 30 bottom bracket meld together to form a stiff, durable and lightweight frame that boosts confidence when hitting corners hard and stabilizes your ride on high-speed technical descents.

With 29″ wheels and 120mm of Fox suspension in the front and a Fox Float 3-position rear, the Rakan tackles your steepest climbs and eats up rocks and roots with ease on your descents. Boost 148 rear and Boost 110 front hub spacing gives you a nimble ride in tight trails and better traction on hairpin corners. Optimized for side swing front derailleurs, the internal cable routing promotes clean frame aesthetics and tidy cable management for extra credit. Finally, the Rakan 3.5 29er is outfitted with a Shimano SLX/XT 11-speed drivetrain, Oval Concepts 600 AM disc wheels and Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance tires.
