Living the Van Life
Lauren has outfitted a Ford Transit van to be her home-away-from-home, bike hauler, and all-around command post as she travels the country to ride and race Fuji mountain bikes. We caught up with Lauren a few months ago at Sea Otter and took a tour of her custom travel setup.
Lauren’s Fuji Auric 1.1 Mountain Bike
Lauren’s race bike is a specially kitted out Fuji Auric 1.1 27.5″ Mountain Bike, which she is racing at enduro events across the US – she recently won bronze at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike Nationals in Mammoth Mountain, California. Lauren’s Fuji Auric 1.1 is the perfect enduro platform, with 160mm of full-suspension travel (built around the MLink suspension), 27.5″ wheels, and a A6-SL alloy frame. Lauren’s Fuji Auric 1.1 has a few modifications from the stock build, as she runs Fox suspension front and rear, a Race Face Next SL crankset, and WTB tires. She even installed a remote lockout for her rear shock, to give her every advantage that she can find on flatter sections of courses – she comes from an XC background, so pedaling is a spot where she can make up time on more gravity-oriented riders.
Lauren gave us a video tour of her bike and van when we visited her at Sea Otter this spring:
Giving Back with Turn Loose
But life on the road is about more than riding and racing for Lauren, as she is also working to raise funds and awareness for her Turn Loose project. Since Lauren is now living her dream to travel and ride bikes every day, Turn Loose is Lauren’s way of giving back and paying this passion forward. Turn Loose will encourage others to take risks, aim big, and follow their dreams, by funding adventurers and inspiring projects with cash support. Check out the Turn Loose site to find out more about how you can get involved, and how you can support this initiative by picking up some cool products.
The best way to follow Lauren and her Turn Loose project is definitely by following them on Instagram – we promise that you’ll be inspired by some amazing images!
